Q What is the temperature like in Kenya?
A

Around Nairobi, the highest temperatures range from 23 C in the cold season to approximately 28 C in the hot season. The temperatures in Central and Western Kenya are more or less the same. North Eastern and Coastal area experience hotter temperatures. Only the coastal region experience hot and humid temperatures.

Q What is the unit of currency in Kenya?
A

Kenya Shilling denominations in notes of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000 and coins of 5 cents, 10 cents, 1 Shilling, 5 Shillings, 10 Shillings and 20 Shillings.

Q What is the voltage output for electrical appliances?
A 220V ~ 240V / 50 Hz
Q What is Kenya Time in relation to GMT?
A +3 hours GMT (5 hours behind China time)
Q Where is the location of Kenyan in African Continent and which countries are bordering Kenya?
A

Kenya is located on the eastern side of Africa next to the Indian Ocean. Countries bordering Kenya are Somalia at North East Ethiopia at the North, Sudan at the North West, Uganda at the West and Tanzania at the South. While Indian Ocean is at the East.

Q I am a Kenyan and my passport is about to expire. What it the procedure for new passport?
A

You bring or mail it to the Embassy together with duly completed Passport application form, two passport size photos and passport fee. We shall them forward them to Nairobi for processing.

Q How long does it take to obtain a new passport?
A About two (2) months
Q

I am Kenyan and I would like to renew my Passport at the expiry of five years. What it the process of renewal?

A

You bring or mail it to the Embassy together with a duly completed Passport Extension Application form and Passport fee of Yuan 114 and a self addressed stamped envelop. We shall process it at the Mission and Mail it to you.

Q

I am Kenyan and would like to know the procedure for applying for a birth certificate for my child who was born in China.

A

Application together with all the documents below should be forwarded to this Embassy for onward transmission to the Principal Civil Registrar, Nairobi

  • Duly completed Application Form for Registration of Birth (available at the Embassy);
  • Copy of child’s Birth Certificate issued by the Civil Registry here in China (not from the hospital);
  • Copies of relevant pages of parents’ passports;
  • Copy of Marriage Certificate;
  • Copy of Father’s ID
Visa
Q Does one send all visa requests to the Kenya Embassy in Beijing China or is there another consular office in China?
A

Visas are only issued at the Kenya Embassy in Beijing for residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Makau. There is also a Honorary Consularate in Hong Kong which issues tourist visas to residents of Hong Kong, Makau and parts of Southern China.

I am a citizen of China and am traveling through Nairobi on my way to Tanzania. I will be in Kenya for less than a day and do I need to obtain a Visa and what type of a Visa?

A You need to obtain a Transit Visa. The fee for Transit Visa is RMB 160.
Q How much does a Visa cost for Chinese citizen?
A RMB (Yuan) 380 for Single Journey Visa.
Q

I am a Chinese citizen. It is my understanding that a Visa can be obtained at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi for US$25.00. Am I right?

A

Yes, if you are residing outside Mainland China you can obtain a visa on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport or any other port of entry into Kenya. If you are within Mainland China, you cannot exit China without a Valid Visa.

Q What is the advantage of obtaining a Visa prior to entry into Kenya?
A

You will not have to wait at any port of entry into Kenya. And in case of some reasons entry is denied, you will have saved on air ticket and time.

Q Is it possible to issue a multiple entry Visa for twelve months? What are the requirements?
A

Yes. It can be issued but unlike the single entry visa, which is processed at the Embassy, the multiple entry visa application has to be referred to Principal Immigration Officer, Nairobi.

Q

I would like to know whether a parent should sign children’s Visa applications and if so, until what age?

A

Yes, a parent can sign a visa application for his/her child until the child is able to read and write.

What kinds of immunizations are required?

A

Yellow Fever; Cholera
