MAGICAL KENYA ROADSHOW 2014:
KENYA TOURISM BEYOND THE WILDERBEEST MIGRATION AT THE MARA

Kenya’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China H.E. Michael D. Kinyanjui, launched the Magical Kenya Roadshow 2014 in Beijing on 10th March, 2014. Similar events were held in the cities of Shanghai, Chengdu and Guangzhou between 11th-14th March, 2014 targeting Chinese Tour Operators and Travel Agents with a view to marketing Kenya as an ALL YEAR ROUND tourism destination besides the traditional wildebeest migration at the Maasai Mara.

During his speech, H.E. the Ambassador noted the positive impact Chinese tourists have made in Kenya’s Tourism Sector in addition to strengthening the bilateral relations.
“Tourism has grown as a major component of Kenya-China relations where more and more Chinese tourists are travelling to Kenya every year thus enhancing people to people relations”, the Ambassador said.

The Magical Kenya Roadshow 2014 lined up series of events in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Guangzhou that saw Tour and Travel Agents from both Kenya and China conduct Business-to-Business consultations and networking.

The Ambassador informed that the number of Chinese travelers has increased over the years and the growth trend is continuing. He invited Chinese travelers to sample the various attractive packages that Kenya offers spread throughout the year. Some of the attractions include Golfing - with courses meeting international standards; birds viewing in Western Kenya’s Rainforests and Beach Safari at the Coast; adventure Safari hill walks and mountain climbing in Mount Kenya among several attractions. Kenya also hosts major hotel chains and brands offering quality accommodation and comfort.

Travelling to Kenya has become convenient with the increased flights and expanded coverage within China by the national carrier Kenya Airways (KQ). The Kenya Airways has daily flights from Guangzhou to Nairobi, three being non-stop direct flights. Preparations are at an advanced stage for flights from Nairobi to Shanghai and Nairobi to Beijing which are scheduled to start in August and September, 2014 respectively.

KENYA TOURISM BOARD (KTB) HOSTED CHINA ROADSHOW 2014

2014317——北京——肯尼亚旅游局2014年中国路演于上周五圆满落幕。此次路演为期一周,分别在北京、上海、成都、广州巡回开展推介会以及商务洽谈会,深度推广了肯尼亚多样化的旅游资源,为肯尼亚旅游合作伙伴和国内旅业同仁搭建了良好有效的沟通平台,以进一步促进肯尼亚旅游。
China Roadshow 2014 hosted by Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) came to an end last Friday. This roadshow, taking place for one week successively in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Guangzhou, included destination presentations and one on one business forums linking Kenyan trade and Chinese trade in order to promote Kenya in China market.

肯尼亚驻华大使先生更是受邀亲临现场致开幕词并开启了此次路演。大使先生对中国市场提出了极高的期望,对肯尼亚旅游局推广肯尼亚旅游所做的努力提出肯定,更鼓励国内的旅业同仁发展更多的肯尼亚旅游产品,以带领更多中国游客去往“非洲之心”肯尼亚体验纯正的非洲风光以及非洲文化。
H.E. Ambassador was invited to make an opening ceremony. Ambassador expressed high expectation towards the market and encouraged Chinese trade to develop more Kenyan tour products in order to take more Chinese consumers to experience authentic African attractions and culture in Kenya, the Heart of Africa.

此次路演重点推广肯尼亚动物迁徙以外的优质淡季产品,共邀请到了300多位旅业人士参加,与肯尼亚当地12家旅游合作伙伴进行深度交流。
The focus of this year’s roadshow was to promote low seasons of Kenya aside from sole migration, and over 300 trade was invited to have in-depth forum with Kenyan trade.

肯尼亚旅游局中国区总经理周宇女士谈到:“肯尼亚以一年一度的动物大迁徙而著称;而国内大多游客并不熟悉,除了大迁徙时期外,在肯尼亚依然能观赏到种类丰富、数量繁多的动物。不仅如此,国庆节和春节等假期又恰好是肯尼亚的淡季,所以发展肯尼亚淡季产品是非常有必要的。”
Cynthia Zhou, KTB China Country Director said: “Kenya has been known for yearly migration; therefore Chinese consumers have been unaware of the fact that a big number of animals can still be observed even when it is no migration. Moreover, Kenyan low season happens to be the peak seasons of Chinese travel such as Chinese New Year in February and National Holiday in October, thus we believe that developing low season products is quite significant.”

2014年肯尼亚旅游局将会进行更多推广活动,并致力于信息渠道多元化,以便国内游客能获得更加丰富全面地肯尼亚旅游信息。
In 2014, KTB China will continue to implement a series of promotion activities and diversify information channel to feed the market with more information.
